Vista crashing in the most simple of tasks
Posted by Julio Franco. Filed under: blog, windows, microsoft, software, thumbs down
So let me rant for a bit. After defending Windows Vista, not because I like Microsoft but because based on my experiences I have had relatively few problems with the OS, last night I saw it giving me a deja vu of the early Win95 days!
A solid install of Vista now running SP1 was put to the test… burning a data DVD with 1GB worth of files. The result? A 15 minute wait, followed by a hard crash (that is, I had to manually shut down my system to restart). I can forgive all the driver incompatibilities you want, but DVD burning? Good thing, Nero finally works well with Vista.
Lol I have had that problem happen to me before, although I do not have Sp1 installed yet in Vista Ultimate. I use power2go and one time, I had to manually shut the computer down due to it locking the system up.
I’m pretty sure you guys are just noobs. There are few things that will bring a ‘hard crash’ where powering down is the only way out. I am not saying it wasnt the only way but I would like to suggest that you have probably borked your system in such a way as to encourage these things. I will never disagree that windows is a tempermental whore, however, as with all the ladies, you cant tell me that there is no way to live with the evil bitch and make her do your bidding when I got her makin me toaster strudles all night long and givin foot massages… jesus.. did I just compare vista to my ex-wife? i gtg.
That was the weirdest comment I have ever read….. And you’re calling Julio an noob??
Yup… disturbingly weird lol.
Talking of wives, just last night my wife was about to burn a CD with photos using Vista’s built in tools. Guess what? Hard crash on her brand new Dell XPS.
Once again, in the most simple of tasks…
Lol. Wow, now that’s bad. Does her XPS have SP1 also? I still haven’t installed SP1 yet, but if it still doesn’t fix simple problems like these, what good will it be to install it?
I believe it does… I have had the problem with and without anyway… it’s only Microsoft at fault here for sure.
Vista’s already dead. Admins are waiting for Windows 7 which is Vista revisited with all the bugfixes put in at RTM.
I sure hope Windows 7 has a better launch (and first year) than Vista did…
