Latest Deer Park Nightly
Noticed over on The Burning Edge that the latest Deer Park (aka Firefox 1.1) nightly build has some interesting new fixes/changes added;
Fixed: 216466 - Use error pages instead of dialogs for e.g. HTTP networking errors (default browser.xul.error_pages.enabled to true).
Fixed: 298293 - Turn on fastback/bcfache by default in ff 1.1a2 / gecko 1.8b3. (default browser.sessionhistory.max_viewers to 3.)
Fixed: 296850 - Frame injection spoofing with targets (bug 246448 returns - SA15601).
Fixed: Several other security holes.
Fixed: 76831 - [Windows] Slow to restore from minimized state (default config.trim_on_minimize to false).
Fixed: 176079 - Popup blocking does not stop Flash from opening windows.
Be sure to read the page itself for other fixes/bugs & download links if you’re feeling experimental. A lot of the preference changes are covered in our Firefox Guide already.

It would seem like a random bug but I often get 90%+ CPU usage from Firefox when I have more than 4 tabs opened, and that really stinks for me because it’s my browser of choice and have got used to it a lot (sort of like I was used to IE a year ago or so).

I usually don’t notice anything wrong until I have about six tabs open. :)

I just hope they release the update to the popup blocker which will also block Java/Flash popups.

Yeah, the changelog links to another blog about the updated popupblocker 1.1 will feature. But for now there’s still some choices;
privacy.popups.disable_from_plugins. This option allows you to control how popups from installed plugins are treated, 3 options are available.
0. This setting enables all popups from plugins, which isn’t particularly recommended.
1. This setting enables popups from plugins, up to the limited specified by dom.popup_maximum (Covered later).
2. This setting disables creation of popups from plugins, unless the site is listed as an Allowed Site in the Web Features tab.

After a quick glance at Deek Park Alpha 1, it would seem much better at handling multiple tabs, I’m delighted.

Update that… seems faster for sure, still very buggy. That was to be expected, of course, but it’s way more buggy than RCs.

I have used Deer Park Alpha 1 for a while now and found it much better than FF 1.0.4. I find it very stable and have not come accross one error as of yet and I use the net every day.

Firefox 1.04 on linux with 10-20 tabs open, multiple instances, etc. no problem — plenty of power left to go to a different desktop for local search etc. Could it just be Windoz??
