Mountain Dew X Preview
Mountain Dew is arguably one of the most popular drinks for computer geeks (especially for those long nights of gaming). I recently received a six pack of Mountain Dew X [variant 516] (because I think Pepsi approached me about testing it). I am also curious if any of you entered to get a few cans of Mountain Dew X for free. I’ll just quickly list some of my first impressions about the new product!
The color of MD X? It still has that yellowish color of the original Mountain Dew. Some people complain that they wish it was a different color, but I can’t say that I care about what color it is. (Come on now, I am going to be drinking it down too quickly to really pay attention to what color it is.)
Guarana, ginseng, taurine maltodextrin and D-ribose are some of the ingredients that you will find in the latest drink from Pepsi.
The most surprising aspect about Mountain Dew X is that the flavor hasn’t changed too much, even though it appears that it is supposed to be a bit more like an energy drink. It really is difficult to describe the taste of soda over the Internet, so I will just recommend that Mountain Dew fans try it at least once. Pepsi has been doing a fairly good job not releasing too much information about the new product, so it is very possible that you will read a lot of information that isn’t true.
I will have to e-mail Pepsi and see if I can get a bit more information about the new product. Do you guys have any thoughts, questions or comments? It should be interesting to hear a bit more about the product in the next few months.

We don’t get most of these drinks here (Belgium). I’ve never tasted drinks like Mountain Dew, Bawls & such. :p

I was invited to a DOA tournament no to long ago and they had the new Mountain Dew X for taste because Pepsi wanted to know IF gamers would like it. It doesn’t taste to much different than the origional and the color is basically the same. No one get to excited for it, it isn’t that amazing.

Dave, I know quite a few people that don’t enjoy drinking energy drinks (especially on an empty stomach).

A group of my goons went to E3 this year (lucky bastards) anyway they must have brought back about 5 cases of this new Dewski bizzness. I disagree with a few comments so far. First of all if the 516 is poured into a glass with ice you will immeadiatly notice a drastic difference in the color. Its a pure bright green as opposed to yellow. Also, do any of you remember SURGE!!!!? Any serious gamer would… jk, anyway that is what the flavor most strongly resembles. And YES ladies and gents… it is an energy drink with thirst quenching capabilities! I had one and had no problem playing Halo 2 well into the next morning. This 516 stuff is the stuff. Plain and simple. Makes Amp seem like dog poo.

I just got a case of this mountain dew and all I can say is it is addictive. I get a killer headache every time I drink it but it sure does get me going.

apparently, pepsis trying to get rid of the rest of it now that testings done, its given away in front of wal mart. somone snagged me a can, i havnt tried it yet, i plan to attempt to procure more though

Its funny I got an email on monday the 19th of sept. and clicked on the link to mountain dew to get a free bottle and when I updated my profile on MD it didnt bring me to any free bottle thing. then I went to a url on md and it said the test was done and no longer available. anyone know where i can get this stuff?

Mountain Dew was having a promo thing at my college… I ended up chugging 2 cans of Mountain Dew and 5 cans of MDX. I can’t really see straight, and I forget what it tasted like, but it was pretty good… I was shaking for 5 minutes afterwards, and then couldnt move for 25minutes… then stumbled back to my dorm…. but I did get a lot of free stuff from it, plus another 8 cans :)

I’ve had about 15 MDXs from the CMJ 2005 Conference and it was amazing. Like AMP and MD combined, with all the pros of both, with no cons. I loved it, and you all need to try it out!
