Future proof? Ahh, I never believe those arguments :) In cases like that I just recall the Geforce 256's T&L unit. By the time T&L was widely used it was useless. I know it's not exactly a 100% fair comparison but at least this way I'll not have to upgrade the motherboard either ;)

The 64bit portion is now very useful right now but it has so much more that you can enjoy out of the box that it would be a shame to overlook it.

Cool'n'quiet make it much more silent (& cooler), the performance compared to an AthlonXP (even with the same clock & ram speed) is so much better. It just happens to be more futur proof as when a proper 64-bit OS is ready (with drivers, etc.) it will only get better.

Well, I went for the 1GB RAM after all - 2x512MB DDR PC3200. The current 768MB's a mix of PC2700/2400 so might as well just ditch the old mix altogether. Hopefully upgrading to a Barton XP after christmas.

64Bit might be all the rage at the moment but lets face it; how useful is it really for most people? I can't speak for everyone of course but the potential native 64Bit application I'd be able to use would be Far Cry so far. Who knows, maybe if Microsoft starts offering reduced price 64bit products I might get something better (Office 64bit, Microsoft published games, etc.)

It figures don't it? Since finishing there's been 2 or 3 articles posted covering the XP Prefetching & a few related misinformed options.
