Its not about needs - its a cool idea that they ran with and now its out there. Sure its expensive - but years ago someone had the idea that a machine could add up rather than using a pen and paper and they built a computer. It was expensive at first too :)

Yea, I totally agree with previos "speaker".
It might look Cool, but I myself can't imagine any really good use for it, especially not that can motivate the cost.
Even if the price comes down with "volume" ((however that would happen)) who REALLY needs a keyboard that can change "face" fast and flexibly like this.
As "Vincent" commented most "frequent users" hardly ever look at their keyboards, so it must be for "unfrequent users" and who in this group is ready to pay this kind of money for a keyboard ((however much they "plumet" in price, they will allways be verry expencive compared to at "normal keyboard"))

For a cheaper option use "Stickers", they can even give tactile fedback at no extra cost ;)

It looks kind of nice (although I thought they went with monochrome on most of the keys). But if you touch type why do you ever look at the keyboard? you shouldn't have to! Even the function keys - you might look in your peripheral vision where the key is but you don't want to read the key. I have about 15 additional keys at the top of my keyboard. I think I've used 1 of them (the calculator) maybe twice.

If I spent that much money on a keyboard I would be scared of typing on it and scuffing the keys. Still cool though... but not at $1500+.
