If you are a forum moderator:

      Regarding the thread at topic18329-8.html

I believe I have found a much easier workaround for the problem, which you can read in my post. If possible could you edit the first solutions post so that it is availble on the first page rathr than ppl having to read til the end. Thanks

Hello, my name is Rachel and I was exploring the web and saw that you were able to help some folks with the HDD passwords. I am so disgusted with Dell. I bought a brand new hard drive from them last February, 2008 and it already crashed on me! :( It's asking me for an HDD password and when I called Dell to help me all they said was that my 90-warranty had expired and I had to pay them $49.99/hour for them to help me! They did not even offer me an "extended warranty" when I bought the hard drive! I was outraged!!! I paid $99 for the hard drive and they're trying to charge me for support, with NO guarantee that what they tell me will work.

So, as you can see, I am extremely frustrated. I am so sorry to bother you with this. I recently went to the US Conference on AIDS (USCA 2008) in Fort Lauderdale, FL (I'm an HIV Prevention Specialist), and took a bunch of pix and vids, which I downloaded to the laptop. Now, I cannot access them and my job is requesting the media, since I'm usually the person who always takes pix/vids at events.

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 2200, its service tag is: JM6WK71 and its Express Service Code is: 42700717117.

Any help you can provide is appreciated.

      Thank you!!!
      Rachel S.
