i am having the error every time i try to run regedit, or cmd....from the start--run.
here is the error i get. When i type in cmd i changes to cmd.com instead of regedit.
"16 bit ms-dos subsystem error

the NTVDM cpu has encountered an illegal instrction.
CS:00cf IP:0650 OP:fe b4 06 db o2 choose 'close' to terminate the application.
i am given 2 options close and ignore."
I can get both regedit and cmd to work if i type it with a .exe file at the end. Ive searched high and low reading through forums. Many have suggestied implimenting 3 files to system32; which are CONFIG.NT, command.com, and AUTOEXEC.NT. Ive tried that and it still gives me the same error.
My second problem is that system32 isn't under windows. its under windows\lastgood\system32. i have no idea how it got there. Ive ran adaware, spybot, norton 2005 and nothing is detected. Ive even searched for the file itself (regedit.com)...and can't even locate it? i decided to post my hijack hoping that someone with greater knowledge than me can see whats happening here.
