Just got a new HDTV. When I play games on it (let's say.... halo 1), sounds that are directly infront (in game) sound a bit quieter than when you're looking away from the sound source at a 90 degree angle (so it's at the side of your screen), and alot quieter compared to when the sound source is coming from behind you.

Is it supposed to be like this? Happens on Rainbow 6 Vegas, Geats of War, SC: Double agent, call of duty 2 ... all the games I own.

I haven't noticed this when playing games on my PC with 5.1 speakers though. So, is it normal for 2.1 speakers to do this?

It sounds like you have your audio output set for 5.1 and playing it on your 2.1 speakers, if I understand correctly, and I would expect what you describe to be exactly what would happen. If this is the case, you need to change from 5.1 to 2.1 in your audio control panel when playing games on the tv.
