    Hello there !!

I have pentium 3 processor on my system.
My master Hdd is a 40gb disk.
When I try to connect a 5.3gb, it is not detected by the system.

    Please get me far.

"not detected by the system" means what?

When you connect ATA devices then they have to be either slave or master. On one cable there should be one slave and/or one master. The master/slave setting is done via jumper(s) on the devices.

In BIOS setup set all the IDE devices to be auto-detected.

In Windows you may have to partition and format the newly added drive.

    Thanks.

My BIOS settings are set to auto-detect mode.
And the smaller disk is working in my friends house, so there is no
    question of partioning.
When I tried to make the smaller disk stand alone, it wasn't detected
    by windows.
But, when I boot from a floppy, that disk is accessable.
