2 general wire router questions

Looking to replace my current router and would like to know...

1) Will I notice a real difference between 54 Mbps and 105 Mbps? I have a cable modem, downloading around 6 Mbps. Not heavy gaming, some live video streaming.

2) I'm replacing a D-Link most likely with a Linksys router. Must I or should I replace the D-Link made wire PCI card as well.

if you had problems with the nic yes
if you think you need more control yes
gigabit nics have gotten pretty cheap
stay away from noname brands and realtek
the 2 trouble free ones on my end are intel and 3com
intel has a great rma system both standard nics have good manageability
