20GB Gone Dont No where

i hold over curser on the documents and settings in the c drive and it says 24gb in use but then i open it up and theres only bout 4 gb in use out of all the folders there. what is wrong?

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Open your documents and settings folder, at the top of the window click on tools, and then folder options.

Click on the view tab, and check the box that says show hidden files and folders, and untick the box that says hide protected operating system files (recommended). Click yes, followed by apply/ok.

Can you now see the full ammount of used gigabytes?

If you can then, that`s where your missing 20 gig is.

When you are through looking, just reverse the above instructions.

ive tryed that m8 but it didnt work it came up with a user folder but that was on a couple of kb. any other ideas?

I`m sorry, but other than that I don`t know what else to suggest. Strange eh?

yep its strange only thing i can think of to fix it is to format that drive

Try scan disk

Maybe you got a corrupt FAT. Try right-click on the drive in explorer, click properties, select tools click check volume for errors.
