    Hey guys,
I've been putting off upgrading for awhile, and am on a bit of a budget so cant really get that much...but. I am going to get a strip of 512mb DDR..

And a new processor, I am deciding between the Athlon XP 2400+ and 2600+ with the 266mhz FSB...

I would love to move up to a new mobo and processor with a higher FSB but that really isnt an option...Is it worth the extra $20 to get the 2600+? Will I see much of a gain with it since it still has the 266mhz FSB?

    Current Specs:
    Athlon XP 1800+
    384mb PC2100
    100GB WD SE HDD
    GF4 Ti4600
    SB Audigy
    Antec 400w P.S.

I have an XP 1700 with a stock speed of about 1400mhz. Ive got it OCd to 1850mhz with no problems. You most likely can OC the 2400 to at least 2600 level.

Na, that's ok, I may overclock my current 1800+ but I'm not OC'ing my new processor..It's just not worth it to me...

There's a 133mhz difference between the 2400+ & the 2600+. If you could notice that speed difference in everyday use, then by all means get the 2600+. Otherwise a 2400+ will suffice.:)

PS. The 2600+ requires a 16x multiplier. Does your board support that ?
