I'm upgrading my system from the mobo down so will be going the way of pci-e.
Memory, mobo and cpu have already been sorted out but I've really come unstuck with the graphics card - I previously used a leadtek 6800 128 with great success and was thinking of upgrading to the pci-e version but on checking Thomas's Hardware Guide, according to extensive benchmarks, the 128 meg 6600gt is significantly faster than the 256 meg 6800, indeed, in some cases, it completely wipes the floor with the 6800 especially when benchmarked with 3d mark 05, doom3, far cry and several other titles - sorry, but I'm completely confused here - a £100-£120 6600gt 128meg is much faster than a £160+ 6800 256meg 6800?
If push comes to shove and if the benchmarks prove correct, I'll be plumping for an xfx 256 meg 6600gt but after having used and enjoyed my 6800 for over a year, I can't help feeling that I'm downgrading even if the 6600 is faster - can anyone shed any light on this before I make the purchase?

I wouldn't be surprised if the 6600GT gets some better frame rates than the 6800 actually. The 6600GT has a higher chipclock and memory clock. The 6800 has more pipelines and a higher buswidth though. But I have heard so many good things about that 6600GT card for the budget level gaming system.

But if you are a hardcore gamer, the bump up to the 6800GT is very much worth considering, even at the expense of lower specs in other areas in most cases.
