6800 Ultra 512mb vs 7800 256mb GTX

  1. Which one would you rather choose for gaming. or which one is better? why is it? I need to know the differences bfore i buy the graphic for my motherboard (im building one)
    p.s. there is such thing as 6800 ultra 512 mb

    Yea, the added RAM doesn't make that much of a difference. All it does is allow faster access to textures etc (instead of having to get them off the HDD, they are right next to the GPU and can easily and very quickly be accessed). What does matter is the 430mHz processor and the over 300 million transistors.

    You want the 7800 that is what it recomended for Age of Empires III when it comes out.

    Can 7800 GTX Run SLI

    Can the 7800 GTX run in SLI mode? have anyone tried it? if so, how do you do it?

    Of course it can, just make sure you have enough power. But just one of these cards can easily keep up with SLI 6800's. Also, you might want to wait untill the price drops a little cause $1000+ for a graphics config is quite steep.
