8 steps done, logs attached. IE issues now

  1. Fought my way through the 8 steps, attaching logs from malwarebytes, superantispyware, and hjt. Everything seems clean now but when I start IE8 things are fine until I try to open a new window, then everything locks up. There are 4 instances of IE in task manager process view, 2 of which cannot be stopped. I tried removing and reinstalling IE8 and then tried installing Firefox. IE8 behaves the same, FF doesn't load (no GUI) but a firefox process is seen in task manager. I removed FF and am back to IE8 with same issues.

Any suggestions? And thanks in advance

First these things first in HJT:

    O2 - BHO: AskBar BHO - {201f27d4-3704-41d6-89c1-aa35e39143ed} - C:\Program Files\AskBarDis\bar\bin\askBar.dll

    O3 - Toolbar: Ask Toolbar - {3041d03e-fd4b-44e0-b742-2d9b88305f98} - C:\Program Files\AskBarDis\bar\bin\askBar.dll

    Are you using proxy?

    Proxy?

Not sure I understand. The Ask bar came along as part of the Codomo firewall installation. I am using this for search until I'm sure everything else is clear then I'll go back to determining if the Google redirect is resolved.

It will be better if all toolbars are disabled before proceeding.

    Fix this also:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local

At this point, the next logical step is to perform a Windows Repair (XP) or Windows Upgrade (Vista)

Repost if you need assistance in initiating this.
