80 gig HD

I just replaced an HD of 60GB with an HD of 80 GB in my laptop, and installed the os system of winxp pro on it. However when i checked the size of it in the my computer section it only read Capacity74.53 GB, Free space 72.74GB. This is my 1st time swapping out a HD and i was wondering is this normal, is there something i must due to get the other 6.47 GB to show up?

It is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.

It`s due to the way the size of the hard drive is worked out.

The manufacturers of the drive size it like this. 1000Mb=1GB when in reality there are 1024MB=1GB. Hence the size discrepancy.
