Everyone konws that smart can repond some informations of HD,and if your HD is dangerous ,smart can send a warning message, but how to test it.
May be my test is crazy but my company need me to do it,how to make a fine disk to error disk, then I can test the correctness of smart, but I can not destroy the disk. :( :(
If you can ,please help me.

You can read moe inormation from SMART than just "failed" or "ok". There are several counters and values you can retrieve via SMART.

If you absolutely insist on creating a prefailure condition then you could try oveheating the drive. Unless you really overdo it the drive should just shut down. And you should get a SMART warning before that.

You do realise that you need special software in order to receive SMART errors and statistics?
