A simple vid card question

A friend of mine has a fairly old computer and her video card died. I 99% sure she needs AGP but I am not sure exactly if she needs 2x, 4x, or 8x. She doesn't game or really do anything too intensive with her computer, so I wanted to find a cheap option for her to replace it with. Is there any way I can tell what she needs just by looking at the motherboard or old video card?

If she doesn't play any 3D games, you can get any cheap low-end Nvidia or ATI card and put it in.

Doesn't really matter if you get a PCI or AGP card if she doesn't game. If you're getting an AGP card, make sure the board does have an AGP slot.

I think if you get a 4x card and the board only has a 2x slot, the card will just run at 2x.
