When I install the chipset drivers for this board, I have two problems.

one: my ide devices stop working (dvd-rw drive)
two: I get a warning message saying the network drivers are not approved for windows XP and may not work if installed. And... they don't work for me.

I have just finished completely re-installing XP sp2 and am ready to try all over again. I am going to bed now, and will try in the morning.

Anyone have any experience/suggestions to share with me for my morning reading?

i recently purchased the fatal1ty an8 and had some trouble with the drivers as well. i did read up and you need sp2 for xp.

what was happening with mine when i went to install the chipset drivers the one labeled IDE and EIDE devices or whatever would cause windows xp to freeze up on loading. so i just did a custom install. installed the other 3 and works great after that.

    hope this solves your problems.

Thanks, I actually got mine up and running now.

I reinstalled windows and did 2 things differently, which seems to have fixed everything.

    1. Instead of using Asus's chipset drivers, I went directly to the nvidia site and downloaded the nforce4 drivers from them.

    2. I deactivated my anti-virus soft before installing the drivers. I have a feeling this was the cause. Duh. ;)
