Logs are looking a lot better, still a few things you need to do.

Update your Java Runtime Environment
  • First try going to Start -> Control Panel -> double click Java
  • Select the Update Tab at the top of the Java console
  • Click the Check for Updates button at the bottom
  • If it finds the newer version (Java 6 Update 5) Follow the on screen instructions
  • After it installs the newest version Go back to Control Panel -> Add/remove programs
  • Uninstall any older versions of Java

We need a 2nd opinion here to see if I am missing something as I am very tired.

:Run Kaspersky Online AV Scanner:

Order to use it you have to use Internet Explorer.
Go to Kaspersky and click the Accept button at the end of the page.

Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%.
  • Read the Requirements and limitations before you click Accept.
  • Allow the ActiveX download if necessary.
  • Once the database has downloaded, click Next.
  • Click Scan Settings and change the "Scan using the following antivirus database" from standard to extended and then click OK.
  • Click on "My Computer"
  • When the scan has completed, click Save Report As...
  • Enter a name for the file in the Filename: text box and then click the down arrow to the right of Save as type: and select text file (*.txt)
  • Click Save - by default the file will be saved to your Desktop, but you can change this if you wish.
Attach the report into your next reply

I've tryed running Kaspersky numerous times and it always seems to hang and freeze at 87% on the same file each time "C:\Program Files\Sony\dvgate plus\help\DVplus.chm"

Not sure why it's doing that....

What should i do?

  • Please visit Jotti Online Malware Scan
  • Copy the following line into the white text box:
  • C:\Program Files\Sony\dvgate plus\help\DVplus.chm
  • Click Submit.
  • Please post the results of this scan to this thread.
Note: If the server is busy at the above site, try this alternative site:
  • Go to Virus Total-Upload A File.
  • Copy the following line into the white text box:
  • C:\Program Files\Sony\dvgate plus\help\DVplus.chm
  • Click Send.
  • Please post the results of this scan to this thread.

Looks like it came back as "OK"

This is what it currently displays:

Number of infected objects: 6
Number of suspicious objects: 0
Duration of the scan process: 01:53:52

I get this error message over and over when clicking to Update

ActiveScan 2.0 update: Update error

"Sorry, updating is incomplete due to an error. Please try again."

Let's try one more as I want to be sure that the infection is gone. The fact kaspersky sees infections means nothing because it detects old infected restore points which we are going to clear out before you are done, it detects quarantined files also which we will remove before you are done.

Trend Micro Housecall Free Online Scanner

  • It`s one of the very few online scanners that will actually disinfect viruses etc.
  • First Open Internet Explorer
  • Go to Trend Micro's Housecall website which can be found HERE
  • Click on the link that says "Scan now. It's Free"
  • A new tab will open where you will have to tick a box to agree to the terms of service.
  • Click "Launch House Call"
  • Follow any additional on screen instructions
  • Select any infections then Fix Checked after the scan
