The S/PDIF on my motherboard has stopped working. I get sound from the line outs but no light out the S/PDIF. I have opened the little doors and looked in and there is no light coming out. Any ideas. I have reloaded the drivers but still nothing.

Perhaps the s/pdif has shorted out on the motherboard. i have had onboard sound cards short out various ports from time to time. have you installed any new hardware lately or worked around with your motherboard recently?

Its my daughters machine and she instlled AOL broadband on it and then it stopped working. Seeing as how the connections are through the USB ports I do not think conflict / shorting should be a problem. Thanks for the ideas though and Keep them coming.
