Added 1Gig to M3109 Gateway, yet running at 960MB

I have recently upgraded the memory on my Gateway M3109 adding a Crucial 1GB 200pin DDR2 memory. Existing 512MB memory in the laptop was left in place as it has 2 slots. After the install, machine fired right up okay and is noticeably faster (runningn Vista) yet when looking at the Computer Properties information it is only showing 958MB of RAM. This RAM should read 1.5 GB (1536MB) correct? Can anyone assist in getting the RAM to the correct level?

Your old and new memory may not be that compatible. Go ahead and get another Crucial 1GB 200pin DDR2 memory stick to give you a matched set

Thanks. So would you say that it is only running on the 1 GB (alittle below) at the present? 1024-960 = 64MB

if you have integrated graphics, your ram is partially used by your graphics chip.
