adding a striped array

i have a wd 120 hd need more drive space for digital editing bought HITACHI 2x250 for a striped array. how do I add these so i have one drive for os and raid for video storage?

Well

Basically your going to have to make a raid array via your motherboad manufatures requirments.....See the manual....

When you create the array it combines the two drives into one technically, so your going to get 1 drive equal to 500GB

So your going to have to partition this drive into 2. Probably allocating about 100 gig for Windows and the other 400 for storage.

This can all be done when you freshly reinstall XP. Just follow the directions

I just want array for just video files. my wd120 for os and apps for a total of 3 do i still need all that windows on my array?

I would keep windows to 20 gb or so

Well

I mean look at what you are using now, and take a max of any apps you will have on there in the future.......If you have 10 gig used now add another 10 gig.....I just said 100 gb before for reference......


No, you dont need all that space for the OS....WIN XP uses a little over 2 gig for install
