For a while now I've been using a PCI video card with this motherboard and had little to no problems (if it's not seated just right I get no video) so I've got my hands on a few AGP cards. The first one was an older GeForce that worked fine, only the video was all .. err.. scratchy. Sorta the way your game would look on a Nintendo, back in the day, when the cartridge heads were dirty. Anyway, I gave up on that card and tried an ATI Radeon 9250 but the machine would do the 'all is good' beep and then just power down. Thinking it was the card I tried another that came with a friends 'strought out of the box' PC and it does the same thing. I have no idea what kind of card it is beyond having nVidia stamped on it and having 128 meg of onboard RAM.

Can anyone offer some help, or advice? Need more detailed specs, and stuff? Post away.

You didn't mention anything about graphics card drivers. Did you uninstall the old one and install the latest one for each card you tried?
