After the scan was finished, and I did the cleanup, it asked me to submit the log to Sophos. When I tried (several times), it said the submission failed, and I should check my network connection. As far as I know, the connection is good, although when I opened the browser to write this post, it took over a minute for Chrome to open.

OK, so things appear to be better, but there are still problems.

After I posted the log above, I restarted the computer. When I clicked on Chrome, it took a good 10 seconds for it to open. When it dis, the address bar was visible, but the rest of the page was white for 30-45 seconds.

I just opened a new tab. The blue circle went around the cursor for 5 seconds, or so, then the tab opened. All I could see was the address bar, with the rest of the screen white for 5-10 seconds. After the screen came up, I typed something in the address bar, and it was a good 10 seconds before the letters came up.

Most operations I do on a page have a 1-2 second lag. This is improved over before.

It is really noticeable when I go to a page with a lot of ads, where you have to click through multiple pages; like this one:

Before, when you clicked "next", it might take a full minute for the next page to load.

Now, it takes from a few seconds-10 seconds. The deeper you go into it, the longer it takes.

• Click Programs and Features.
• Double-click Google Chrome.
• Click Uninstall from the confirmation dialog. Delete your user profile information, like your browser preferences, bookmarks, and history, by selecting the "Also delete your browsing data" checkbox.

Install fresh copy.

OK, I reset the Chrome setting. We'll see if that helps.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome a few days ago, but will do so again, if necessary.

I've had 4 tabs running in Chrome since this morning, and it has gotten steadily slower, and slower, until it took over 3 minutes from the time I clicked on a tab until I was able to access the page, and it would freeze again as soon as I took any action.

I noticed the hard drive was whining like crazy, so I opened the task manager, and went to performance.

The Disk was at 100%, and stayed there, never dipping below 95%.

The biggest resource hog was cavwp.exe. I searched it, and it is a Comodo Internet Security file associated with scheduled scans. I've had no scan running today.

I restarted the computer, and now Disk hovers between 0, and 3%. If it runs true to form, that number will go up the longer I run the computer, until, in a few hours, it's back where it was.

Even with the disk at 3%, though, the lag when I click between browser tabs and open a new tab is strating already, and it's been less than 10 minutes since my last restart.

OK, running in safe mode with networking now.

Still have lag issues, although maybe not as bad.

Clicks between tabs with maybe a 1/2-1 second lag.

Open new tab, maybe 3 seconds lag.

Go to type in the address bar, maybe 3 seconds lag.

Honestly, that's not a whole lot better than what it would do right after a startup in normal mode.

It doesn't look like Comodo Internet Security is running. If that's the case, that would kind of rule that out as a cause, wouldn't it?

Go ahead and uninstall Comodo to see how it goes.
You can always reinstall it.
Make sure to turn Windows firewall on temporarily.

I've had a major project I've needed to work on for the past several days, but haven't as I've been trying to deal with this. I'm up against a deadline, though, and I have to get to it, lagging computer, and all.

Thank you for reopening the thread.

So, I'm back using this as my primary computer. Its still having the same issues as before, despite uninstalling and reinstalling Comodo, and having everything else up to date.

The version of Comodo I reinstalled was released specifically to address the issue of Comodo having problems with Win 10. No noticable change.

The Maxthon browser still works the best. Chrome (my default), Edge, and Firefox all start freezing up after an hour or so running.

I was watching video in Chrome. It was jerky, and the sound continued on for a good 15 seconds after I closed the browser. I began to wonder whether I might have a driver problem.

With my old rig, every couple of months, or so, I would go onto the Intel site, it would auto-detect my processor, and download the latest drivers. Then I'd go to the NVIDIA site, and do the same.

I went to the NVIDEA website, but the auto-detect wouldn't work. I updated the GeForce Experience software. It showed a driver update available. I downloaded it, but each time I tried to install it, it failed.

After the first failure, the second of my two monitors went dark. Windows 10 no longer sees it.

I just tried the GeForce Experience software again. It showed a newer driver available that was just released today. I downloaded it, but it, too failed on the install.

I went to the AMD website and downloaded the driver update tool. It sees my processor, but says no updates are available. My rig is about 18 months old. Is it plausible that no driver updates have been released since I bought it?

So, do I need to start back off with re-running the scans?

I just got a message from Windows in the lower right-hand corner of my screen that said "Can't Install Updates: Click here to fix (or something like that". It went away before I could click it, and I don't know how to get it back.
