All other pages apart from Facebook will load

One simple thing many people missed is that 'facebook' is https not http so that if you go to the site through a bookmark that is http in your list, it won't work.
If you go through a search engine it will work. Otherwise this problem does seem to be connected to your own wifi router, and possibly the firewall settings.
Also the site can be very busy and there are no problems at all.

Help guys. I'm also encountering the same problem. Here's what I get from command promt:

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\Windows\system32>tracert www.facebook.com
Unable to resolve target system name www.facebook.com.

C:\Windows\system32>ping www.facebook.com
Ping request could not find host www.facebook.com. Please check the name and try
again.

This seems to be worse than what I saw here. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi all, I have the same problem and it has been going on for months. Interestingly while my laptop is affected my Iphone is not which is running off the same wifi network.

I am changing ISPs in a couple of days and will let you know if this changes things. Otherwise it is really annoying.

I had this issue. I solved it. My system clock was wrong. (I'd accidentally set it in the bios at 09/06 instead of 06/09 after battery replacement, so computer 'thought' it was 6th September 2015 when the real world was 9th June 2015). Secure HTTP sites were having hiccups.

Hello Gentlemen,

I have been experiencing the same problem, not able to access some of the social networking sites, you tube and flash related websites. Problem occurs when I am connected to WiFi. With my devices {Mobile, laptops, PDA} connected via WiFI some sites wont open but if I connect the same devices using 3g network I experience no such issues.

NO recent changes were made to the system and been trying to resolve this problem for the whole day. Do you folks have any expert advice for me?

Thanks

Facebook has not loaded since early this morning...Everyone who is using Mediacom Internet cable service in our town is having this problem...We can get on Youtube, Netflix, Twitter and all other sites but, not Facebook...My niece is able to get on FB using her IPad or phone so, can someone please tell me what this is...Mediacom informed me that it is on Facebooks end yet when I used something I found here, ( For What Its Worth, try this http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/), to check this it told me that Facebook is up and running and that it is me... I do not know what to believe...Either Mediacom is lying to me and it is their service that is blocking Facebook or I really really need help...Thanks in advance...

I am based out of India, I did ping and trace route just to confirm if it was a problem @ FB end when connected to broadband as well as 3g. Problem was @ the ISP end, called them up and requested to unbind my IP's from their end and it worked like a charm.

I am able to access all networking and videos sites -- Life is normal now

I'm not sure what town you are in, but I too use Mediacom. I have been unable to get to facebook since June 17,2015 about 11 am. I have tried all of the suggestions I could find and nothing works. No device in our home can get to facebook except my daughter's cell and that doesn't use Mediacom.. We can get everywhere else.. I am going to try one more thing..If it works I'll come back and share..
C.K.

I also have mediacom and having the same problem. I tried my laptop, iPhone and my husbands phone and nothing Facebook won't work...I live in MN if that makes a difference

I'm curious.. Do you use Mediacom?

Same problem with Mediacom here, in Altoona, IA. Issue started yesterday, everything is accessible and working except Facebook.

Along with everything else I tried, I tried 2 more things .
1) unplugging router and modem for 30 minutes, hoping it would generate a new IP
2) clicked the NO proxy in Firefox (Options/Advanced/Connections)
neither worked..
I'm now on hold on Mediacom for 7.5 minutes ad counting because their call volume is high.. gee I wonder why? I am going to ask them to generate a new IP address for me.. see if that helps , Will update when off the phone

Well Nan refused to unbind my ip address because that wasn't the issue..."It's a known issue, Facebook sent us the update" When I asked her" did the update cause the issue or did the issue claim to fix it?" , she read from a script I swera.. because she just repeated the above.. No idea when the issue will be fixerd..It's Facebook's fault she kept claiming.. Not theirs.. When I told her I'd read that it was an issue for people on Mediacom from IA and MN and one whoe town that used Mediacom, she again stated it wasn't Mediacom but facebook...If it is still down for me later today, I'm going to call back and INSIST I get a tech person.. and insist they reset my IP address..My daughter has Mediacom, and is across town (state of MO) and she can get to FB..

When I contacted mediacom chat they said this:
Marimar:
We have been getting multiple reports with customers in certain areas being unable to connect to Facebook through us and with other ISPs as well.
Marimar:
Thank you for reporting this to us.
Marimar:
Out network operations center is currently working to locate what’s the cause of this issue.
Marimar:
You can go to https://downdetector.com/status/facebook to keep you updated about the issue and the status.

I called to and they told me the same thing that it's facebook not them... Even tho I mentioned that I just went to 2 different places where they have wifi and Facebook worked just fine... So idk what's going on :(

Ladies/Gentlemen,
I have a question, I see you folks use a common ISP provider I.e Mediacom.
Assuming your software or hardware firewall is not interfering with the packets when connected via ISP please try the below

If you folks have an alternate internet connection lets say a mobile internet a 4g/5g connection on it. If yes then I would request you to try and tether your laptops with the mobile device and try connecting to the websites you are not able to access.

If you encounter no issues, that an indicative of a problem with the ISP and not with the site or the device Once you have this sorted, share your findings with your ISP and they should be answerable to your questions

Hi,
It happened to me recently after I had clicked my firewalls offer to "protect my computer" it applied teenage privacy settings to my router sky profile which included blocking social networking. nice eh. you would need to either log in to the router or your isp account and remove the settings to block sites

I have experienced this for 3 days. Sometimes Facebook comes up and asks for login; then I get a blank screen. On a couple of the dozens of tries, there was a message: "something happened, we're working on it, "

I disabled the Windows firewall, uninstalled AVG, rebooted the router, pinged FAcebook, and just about everything else mentioned. When I tried the "is it just me" it says it is just me.

Both desktop and laptop are affected, one running W7 Professional and the other W7 Home..

Any ideas as to what to try next?
