I was running a virus scan and noticed my HD temp was up to 113 F, or 45 C. This is the first time its gotten this high, but it has been rocketing up the last few days. It is usually around 36 C. Is this safe or is a faliure iminent? I have noticed the computer slowing down more than usual when using the disk alot, or using the page file.

EDIT: It is about 75 F where I am using my computer.

heat is bad get a fan for hdd
the cooler the better most drives get hot
seagate drives run up to 50C the newer even hotter
    that doesn't mean it's a OK thing

I have the next hard drive up from you (250GB) and i have 2 case fans and i manage to keep it at a idle between 34-38 deg C? Maybe you should invest in some case fans. Or if youve allready got some. Get a HDD Cooler
