AMD has launched a new game bundle that will give eligible buyers of the Radeon R9 Fury a free copy of Star Wars Battlefront, the latest major release from EA DICE that has fallen under AMD's Gaming Evolved program.

The promotion will run from now until January 31st, 2016, and requires you to purchase an R9 Fury from a participating retailer to gain a coupon code that gifts you the free game. The majority of popular retailers are participating in the promotion, but it's always worth checking before you hand over any cash to ensure you're getting a free game.

Interestingly, AMD is only bundling Star Wars Battlefront with one graphics card: the Radeon R9 Fury. Other cards in the company's high-end line-up – specifically the Radeon R9 Fury X and the Radeon R9 Nano – are not eligible for a free copy of Battlefront, and neither are cards from the R9 300 series.

Those who do end up purchasing an R9 Fury and get a coupon for Battlefront will have until February 29th, 2016 to redeem the game through AMD's website.

The game is worth $60, adding a decent amount of value to a graphics card that normally retails for between $500 and $560. It's a little unusual that the promotion doesn't apply to the more expensive R9 Fury X and R9 Nano, but clearly AMD wants to specifically drive sales for their R9 Fury first and foremost.

I'm not so sure these kinds of offers are all that compelling (well for me anyway). Only if I were in the market for a particular GFX card and the game that I intended to buy came bundled with that card would I think I scored a bit of a bargain but a bundled free game wouldn't sway my choice of GFX card.

I'd be much more compelled to buy a new card it was offered with the R9 390/390X

I imagine it's because they have more stock of the radeon R9 fury, hence the the focus to sell more with this promotion. What's there to learn? It was a simple supply & demand decision.
