AMD heavily discounts the Radeon Pro Duo ahead of Vega launch

It's not clear exactly when AMD will be launching their next-generation Vega graphics cards, but the company is already looking to discount their previous products before they become superseded.

The first card to hit the discount pile is the Radeon Pro Duo, a monster dual-GPU graphics card designed primarily for compute workloads. This card is essentially the equivalent of two Fiji-based Radeon R9 Fury Xs in CrossFire, with 4 GB of HBM per GPU. While CrossFire isn't supported in every game and doesn't always offer 100% scaling, more than 16 TFLOPs of performance is perfect for compute and workstation use.

The Radeon Pro Duo is currently available for $799, down from its launch price of $1,500, which is a pretty significant discount. At its new price, the Radeon Pro Duo is roughly as expensive as two Fury Xs, although you get the added benefit of a single-card solution rather than two cards in CrossFire.

It may be difficult to find a Pro Duo in stock at this new, discounted price point. The card is already out of stock on Newegg, although you may be able to find one through other retailers. There's a small chance the card will come back in stock, although considering Vega's impending launch, this steep discount is almost certainly designed to clear stock set to be replaced by newer parts.

Just waiting for Zen and Vega. I doubt either will cause me to switch over but the price shakeup should be nice on the high end.

This may be the price of Vega at launch and if you're a professional it's not laughable, it's a gift.

Bring on those discounted R9 390x's and let the crossfiring begin! After I buy a mini-fridge for a case, of course.
Don't forget to install a ton of RGB LED's in it before you begin your build. No self respecting geek would dare to caught dead without them... until the fad finally dies. :D

RGB LED products aren't going anywhere, especially with more and more cases coming with clear side panels. And companies don't keep making them because people aren't buying them. As far as RGB keyboards, their would have been a lot more of them early on if Corsair didn't have exclusive rights to use Cherry MX RGB switches. That deal is now over so expect a lot more of them going forward.

Option 1: Turn them off (yes, they can be turned off completely)
Option 2: Select one colour to match your build
Option 3: Just don't buy the bloody things

You might love them and hope they're going nowhere but they will become redundant when the next big fad comes around. LED's will remain for functional purposes until they too are superseded by some more modern, better tech which is inevitable, but not entirely for the current glitzy, cheesy purpose they're being used for now. However, that might remain for a bit yet.
