AMD plans price cuts for Radeon HD 4800 series

    Starting from next month AMD will cut prices on their Radeon HD 48XX lineup by as much as $50. With their 40nm RV870 series expected to arrive in September, the move is largely seen as a way to lower inventories and make room for new stock. It should also help the company better compete with Nvidia in the all-important mainstream and value segments.

    Any news on how they are going to fix the low availability of the HD 4770 though? That is one sweet card! I am tempted to get two for Crossfire, hence the query.

    @rage, nope, my bad, it was that they were releasing the 4730 with the 55nm process ,with similar performance because the 40nm process yields were so bad.

    @yukka, OCUK also has Sapphire and Powercolor HD 4890s for £150-ish inc. VAT. Pretty sweet deals IMO.
