AMD Zen CPUs delayed to early 2017, more details revealed

Go AMD go! Intel has been sleeping ever since the Core architecture came out. Once Intel won the IPC war, they have done what they always do....introduce small improvements for ~10% gains each time. It's time for AMD to beat Intel down and reclaim the crown as champions the IPC war. This is the ONLY way to get Intel motivated to make some REAL improvements.

Why does everyone think AMD are a value company? When they were ruling the roost with the Athlon 64 their chips were mad expensive, possibly even more so than Intel. Anyone remember the Athlon64 FX retailing for was it £700? If ZEN is faster than Intel then it's prices will be higher than what Intel are charging for their chips.

Once again, this is not a delay. Zen was ALWAYS targeted for 2017, and only review sites that couldn't understand the difference between "limited sampling" and "product release" perpetrated the Q4 2016 rumor.

If Zen is faster than Intel, then Zen cost at most same as Intel. This is because there are lot of morons out there who buy Intel, no matter if AMD is better on every aspect. That was seen on Athlon64 days. AMD was faster, cheaper, cooler. AMD was better on everything. And still overheating Prescott's sold much better...

Actually they were never cheaper. In fact the original Athlong 64 FX lineup was more extortionate than Intels current 5960x. AMD have only been cheaper recently with the FX lineup as AMD had no hope of competing for performance. Although, that is even debatable as Intel seemed to still offer more for your money. Also remember the 9590? That cost £700 and this chip would often lose to a £90 i3 in single core tasks and that was only 3 years ago. Incidentally you can get that same chip now for less than the price of an i5.

If ZEN is faster than Intel, it WILL cost more.

AMD CPU's were generally cheaper at that time. FX-9590 price dropped more than half in first month.

Zen is not faster than Intel and even if it were, it wouldn't cost more.

You are incorrect. It would definitely cost more than Intel if its faster. AMD have always priced higher if they are making faster products.

It won't be priced higher because intel will still have a faster Broadwell E chip in its line up.

Zen will compete with Intel 8c/16t chip however Broadwell E has a 10c/20t chip also which is priced higher and will be faster.

At most Zen may cause a price reduction on intel 8c/16th chip if faster.

When AMD's top model was faster (Athlon 64 FX 55), it cost exactly same as Intel's top model (Pentium EE 3.73 GHz).

What does that make you for supporting AMD no matter what? I do love it when people call themselves names. Every one of your post has been AMD this and AMD that. You are not even trying to remain neutral and see both sides.

Because I'm tellling the truth?

If you were neutral and didn't support AMD no matter what, you would have supported Intel the last 8 years. Your bigotry* is getting old. You are ignoring the last half decade and focusing on a time that was in AMD favor and the way they were treated then. Meanwhile you are treating Intel the exact same way. That's pretty much the very same reason racism will not die.

*ohh and I do recognize it when I see it. The Intel/nVidia/AMD is one area I'm trying to remain neutral in. People like you don't make it easy.

No matter who is on what side, it will be AMD that decides the price of Zen. I expect that AMD will wait to announce pricing until sometime much closer to the launch date. We will all have to wait until then to see what the price is going to be - despite speculation in favor of one way or the other.

I really don't understand what that means.

Bigotry !?!
L M A O at the 'not even GED' mentality that confuses /fill-in-the-blank/ with bigotry.

I blame the parents, power rangers and public schools ...

So tell me what is so confusing about the following definition of bigotry?
intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself
Bigotry perfectly fits HardReset's attitude for someone that is a non-AMD fan.

The tech world has way more savvy than to throw around the word 'bigotry' in any such fashion.
It's comment clowns with triggered tendencies that need to seek the inflammatory angle to everything
in a nanny-like posture - - about something so benign as computer components.
There is no there, there. Or should I say, there is no bigotry there.

You're the one simply looking for drama and relevancy. That much is true.
So lighten up or the BLM folks are going to get even with you.
