Annoying Virus Problem

Hello all.
I have an annoying window that pops up in the lower right tray that tells me "Your computer is infected". It pops up from a red circle with a white X in the middle. I also have a pest trap icon in the system tray as well. I took the steps that were outlined "as things I need to do before posting" but I still get the same annoying pop-up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My HJT log is below.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Your system is infected with at least two rootkits.

You have the Sony drm rootkit and the ntsystem.exe rootkit.

First go HERE and follow the instructions exactly.

You also need to rename HijackThis.exe to HijackThis.1991.exe This is because new malware can hide form HijackThis.exe.

Post a fresh HJT log, only after doing the above.

Thanks Howard,
I went to the site you sent me to and followed the instructions. Currently, both of the icons that I was getting in the system tray are gone. So, I rebooted, renamed the "HijackThis.exe" file to "HiJackThis.1991.exe" as you specified and attached a new HJT log so you can take another look at it.
Thanks again
Jason

You might want to copy and paste these instructions into a notepad file. Then you can have the file open in safe mode, so you can follow the instructions easier.

Turn off system restore.(XP/ME only) See how here.> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial56.html

Boot into safe mode, under your normal user name(NOT THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT). See how here.> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial61.html

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how here.> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial62.html

Click start/run and type services.msc into the run box and press the enter key.

When the window appears, maximise it. Double click on the following services(if there) and select stop if they are running. Set the startup type to disabled. Click apply/ok for each service you disable.

XCP CD Proxy
Plug and Play Device Manager

Close the services window.

Open your task manager, by holding down the ctrl and alt keys and pressing the delete key.

Click on the processes tab and end process for(if there).

$sys$DRMServer.exe
CDProxyServ.exe

Close task manager.

Run HJT with no other programmes open(except notepad). Click the scan button. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

O23 - Service: Plug and Play Device Manager ($sys$DRMServer) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\$sys$filesystem\$sys$DRMServer.exe (file missing)

O23 - Service: XCP CD Proxy (CD_Proxy) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\CDProxyServ.exe (file missing)

Click on the fix checked button.

Close HJT.

Locate and delete the following bold files and/or directories(if there).

C:\WINDOWS\CDProxyServ.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\$sys$filesystem

Reboot into normal mode, turn system restore back on and rehide your protected OS files.

Regards Howard :)
