Antivirus & spyware remover.

I was hoping some kind person might be able to direct me to a good free antivirus & spyware remover download. I recently had to wipe my comp & when reinstalling was unable to find my Nortons antivirus disk. It now seems as though I have picked up a spyware somewhere along the line. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Browser - Firefox (www.mozilla.org) (free) (built-in popup blocker and ActiveX block)
Browser - Avant Browser (www.avantbrowser.com) (free) (IE based alternative)

Firewall - Zonealarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp?lid=selector_za) (free) (needed if you don't have other hardware or software firewall. Not as needed on slow Internet.)

(tip) - Password protect your user accounts. Never click an ad, anywhere, especially if it's a popup. Never search for "free" stuff and download the first thing that pops up. Especially free screensavers or free fonts or free cursors. Very bad.

LOL sry couldn't resist.... i'm a starwars geek so sue me. Actually don't as i said in some other post, i have no money...nada... unless you count the 3 cents i just found... IM GETTING OFF TRACK!...Spybot!Search and Destroy; amazingly enough its free AND it works, it will search your computer for some of the most infamous worms/trojans, spyware and adware. ALSO free updates and downloads. Ok now i read like one of those annoying ads! Oh also theres this site that really helped me out called www.spywareguide.com really helpful, it will tell you about the spyware, adware, trojans and worms and their danger level, I love this site cause i now know what to look for and be careful for
