.aom files?

I sent a .exe file to a friend and when he went to open it, it wasn't exe. It was a .aom file and wouldnt open. How can he open it and is there a program you need to open that? Can he just change the extension to exe after he saves it?

Why does his PC see it as a .aom anyway?

It belongs to Adobe Download Manager. It should have instructions within the program. He could try changing the extension to .exe.
