Translation: "I see iPhones being sold in the secondary market, and when that happens Apple doesn't get a cut. Also, a trade-in program would allow us to move more flagship devices. Because our newest models are so similar to the previous generation, there's a big market for the used devices. We don't want all those used iPhones being turned over to the carriers as a result of their JUMP, NEXT and EDGE programs. We want to be selling those devices so we can wipe them down and slap a 'Refurbished by Apple' sticker on the box. That will help justify the mark-up we'll put on our used phones over the carriers used models. Oh, and it's good for the environment."
