Apple’s new spaceship campus has an official name and an opening date. Set in the heart of the Santa Clara Valley, the 175-acre complex has been officially named Apple Park and will be ready for employees to begin occupying in April. The process of moving more than 12,000 people will take over six months, and construction of the buildings and parklands is scheduled to continue through the summer.

Designed in collaboration with Foster + Partners, Apple Park replaces 5 million-square-feet of asphalt and concrete with grassy fields and over 9,000 native and drought-resistant trees. The entire thing is reportedly powered by 100% renewable energy, with its solar roof generating 17 megawatts of energy, making it one of the largest solar energy installations in the world. It’s also designed to be naturally ventilated and will require no heating or air conditioning for nine months of the year.

In addition to the new office space, Apple Park will have a 1,000-seat auditorium, which will be named Steve Jobs Theater to honor the company’s late co-founder of Apple.

Apple Park will also feature a visitor's center that will include an on-site Apple Store and a café that’s open to the public, R&D facilities, and a large fitness center for Apple employees.

How does the roof stay up in that last image? What super-glass is that?

This is why I can't stand architects and designers sometimes.

This is not gonna stop people running away from Apple, and into companies like Tesla.

I hear the inner workings are a nightmare, and a pretty building though might attract some simpletons at first, won't stop them from jumping the ship, once they've got the taste of the inside cooking, so to speak.

In other news, Apple reportedly unequivocally refuses to build a similar spa, vacation resort, and retreat, for the tens of thousands of Foxconn workers who actually work their a**es off to build that garbage!

They'll have to continue to amuse themselves with the "suicide nets", around Foxconn's dorms...(n)
