  1. hello, i have sygate personal firewall. recently, i have been receiving messages that Application Hijacking has been detected; these are just two examples

    (1) The application: C:\Program Files\HP\HP Software Update\hpwuSchd2.exe try to launch another application: C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\Product Assistant\bin\hprbUpdate.exe to go to remote host www.hp.com
    (2)The application: C:\Program Files\HP\HP Software Update\hpwuSchd2.exe try to launch another application: C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\Product Assistant\bin\hprbUpdate.exe to go to remote host www.hp.com

what is application hijacking? most of them list the severity as critical and most are from www.hp.com.

First of all, those applications are legit. Tell your firewall programme to allow them and not ask you again.

Application Hijacking is just your firewall looking for outgoing vulnerabilities. In this case it was a false positive.
