Asus sata problem

Hi gang,
im trying to finish off my new build and have hit a snag with my new sata optical drive. it is an Asus DRW22B1LT. device manager says that it is working properly,and Asus tells me that the windows default driver is fine. however it will only see about 1 in every 10 discs i put in. the mobo is a DFI MB DFI 790FX-M2RS AM2+ 790FX RT. any ideas?

Hi Ray, its xp 32, something else since i posted that, seems if i put a disc in and wait oh about 10 min, eventually the disc's contents load or show up under my cd drive in explorer. what would cause that long of a delay?
