ASUS Striker Extreme 3rd PCI-E Slot?

  1. Hello

Just a quick one? I would like to know what the 3rd slot for a pci-e graphics card is for in this sli mobo. As far as I know sli gaming only allows for 2 GPUs yet theres 1 more slot in a different colour in between them?

    Thanks
    Chris

    There are 3 expansion slots... 1 PCIeX1, and 2 PCI v2.2 slots

The PCIeX1 could be used for a 3rd video card. The 2 PCI v2.2 slots are for standard PCI add-in cards

Well, there are actually three PCI-E x16 slots: two for SLI graphics cards and the third is intended for use as a physics card at x8 speeds. Presumably you use a third graphics card for this purpose.

u could also insert a pci-ex1 or x4, or x8 card in the third slot and yes they will fit the 1, 4, 8 are just not as long but will funchion in the slots at full speed.
