I'm upgrading/replaceing my old mobo because I think it's dead, and my current HD is a Western Digital 120 GB 7200 RPM Ultra ATA-100 8MB Cache Hard Drive. The new mother board will be an ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA LGA 775 VIA PT880 Ultra ATX Intel Motherboard that has an ATA 133 IDE slot. My question is, will my old HD work with the new Mobo or do I need to get a new HD as well?

Thanks,
Pnazz

the old Hard drive will work it will just run at ata 100. if the new mobo is a significantly different chipset you may need to do a repair install of XP because of the difference. and given that your new mobo only has one IDE slot you would need to have your optical drive and your hard drive on the same IDe cable which is never a good idea. personally I would get a sata HD and leave the IDe for optical drives.
