Hi,

I have this terriable hissing from my speakers, when muting the mic it reduces it but still does not dissapear I removed the narrowband modem wich was above the socket which has the audio card in, still nothing. The only thing I can think of is an IDE cable is tuching the audio card (the way the computer is built) its going from one of the CD drvies to the motherboard its actually tuching the card and theres nothing I can do. Could this be causing interference I get now lost of hissssing

Thanks

Soundcards can be very sensitive to interference from other components.

Cheap soundcards especially.A few tips -

- Go into control mixer of the software and reduced the gain setting.

- Turn 3D Stereo Enhancement off (if on).

- Cheap speakers can generate their own noise.
Use shielded cabling everywhere.
