Audio Causing Video to lag

Hey guys. I am running an XFX 7600GT which is pretty good, When my sound is disabled that is. I run onboard C-Media AC97 audio on a ASrock P4VM800 Mobo. However, when i do have my sound enabled and try to play some recent games the gameplay jitters and jolts at times causing lag to my games. Runs fine with Audio disabled. I do plan to Buy an actual sound card soon, but is there any way to resolve this for now? i have tried re-installing my drivers but no change unfortunatly.
