Hi, i'm just wondering how I can make one music Track, into many tracks,

eg. If I had a 1 minute piece of music that is one track, how do I split the one track into, say, 10 tracks of varying length?

Is this possible? If so what software do I need?

A friend is a sound engineer uses software by these people http://www.steinberg.net/
Most are professional level and expensive but I understand the light versions are good.

Goldwave is a popular free sound editor.

If splitting is all you want to do and you are OK with .wav files then even the standard Windows Sound Recorder will do the job.

Nero 6 comes with a sound editor too..

I have Nero 5.5 and once youv'e "added" the track, highlight it ind click properties, there you have a visual ocilloscope looking thing and can play and split the track.

I take it you mean splitting an Album??
