Automatic restarts

  1. A new issue has reared it's ugly head. When I shut down my computer it restarts automatically. I did this yesterday for the first time. I haven't been in the BIOs. I did use the boot menu to boot from a Ubuntu thumb drive but don't think that would effect Windows since it didn't boot to windows.

    XP SP2 32bit
    AMD 3800x2
    2 gigs ram
    Asus A8NE

    What's up?

    Thanks, Monton

I entered the BIOS and disabled wake on LAN. Problem continued. Would turn computer off and in the morning (if not immediately) the computer would be running. I again entered the BIOS and found wake (i think) from PCI device. I disabled that and the computer stopped booting on it's own.

That was quick ! 20 mins

This may be the default setting for your bios.
If bios has been defaulted I would check all settings in there too, like floppy seek default-enabled, and video memory; power management so forth
