Hi all, have been running Norton for a while but it doesnt seem to detect everything these days and have read on here that AVG (the free one?) is a good anti virus and firewall to get.

If it's free is it any good? does it provide a good level of protection and should I totally remove Norton and install these?

Yes, I stronly recommend removing Norton. If you have any problems, check out this thread here.

AVG is good, and I think Avast is about equal to it. I'd also recommend either the Kerio or Zonealarm firewall (but just one, not both).

AVG free is an excellent antivirus programme.

I definitely recommend you get rid of that resource hogging Symantec/Norton crapware. If you have any problems uninstalling Norton, see this thread HERE.

Here`s a list of programmes I recommend.
