I have a software program that gives me the option of converting an AVI file to a VCD or a MPEG1 format. What is the difference as a VCD file is a MPEG1 FILE?

VCD is at a constant bitrate of 1150 kbps. MPEG1 can be at 1150 but it can also be at different values. If I remember correctly the video from a VCD is simply mpeg1 at 1150.

Thanks. I guess the same would apply as to MPEG2 and SVCD or DVD FORMATS.

Actually - SVCD is typically VBR.
