avi to mpeg2

    I am a newbie at this,I downloaded a movie (.avi) and tried to play it on my dvd player it just spitted it out,my dvd plays (.mpeg2),do I have to change this ? or what do I have to do. ? Thanks

    You will need to change the file, unless stated all DVD players can play MPEG1 + 2. Avi's are only for use with Divx compatible players.

    You need to convert it to MPEG-2 (or MPEG-1), can be done easily with TMPGEnc, for example.

    Then either burn to CD (if encoded to VCD / SVCD), or author a DVD and burn.
