hello.

can any1 hekp me with this,is it possible to fix bad sector on your hdd.

all started 1 day, when pc froze for 5sec,unfreeze for 2,freeze for 5 sec etc.
I checked logs, and all show the same thing.
A problem occured in harddisk d:(i havent used it for 3-4 months aftrer it was full) due to a page coding(sth like that)

Chkdsk on disc d: in safe mode, finishes after 2hrs

chkdsk in cmd shows

segment xxxx is unreadable.

and it keep on and never stops.

I manage to transport 50gig and everything ok,but when entering specific files on hdd,it takes a long time and shows only 1/5 of the files that i had in that folder, although the remaining size of the hdd stays the same.

anyhelp plz.

Sounds to me like your hard drive might be getting ready to fail.

Take a look at this thread HERE for info on bad sectors.

I suggest you download and run your hard drive manufacturers diagnostic utility.

If you can`t find it, take a look at this thread HERE.

Regards Howard :)

What make is it?

Some of the Diagnostic tools offered by Seagate etc will attempt to fix bad sectors {all it does is note not to read or write from them}

It won't fix it so it's useable again, but may help you to transfer your data to another drive.

Generally when there's bad sectors, the drive is on it's last legs.

Beaten to it by Howard!
