What's the make/model of your computer or motherboard?

List any Problem devices
  • Make sure devices are connected and powered on
  • Click Start->Run, enter: msinfo32. Click the + sign next to Components to expand it
  • Click Problem Devices. Anything appear?
  • If yes, click on it, Ctrl-A to select all, Ctrl-C to copy it, Ctrl-V to paste into next post
  • On the other hand, if no devices are listed, tell me so
Generate and attach a DirectX report
  • Click Start->Run, enter dxdiag and click OK
===> If you’re running 32 bit Windows, dxdiag will launch on its own
===> If you’re running 64 bit Windows, you’ll see 64-bit DxDiag. Click it to launch the 64-bit version of dxdiag
  • Notice progress in lower left window corner
  • When done, click Save Information button and save as a text file to your Desktop
  • Click the Upload a File button to upload and attach the file to your next post

Okay this is what I got

Base System Device PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_16BE&SUBSYS_05991025&REV_10\4&211965BF&0&0220 The drivers for this device are not installed.

You have a Gateway NV55S? That's the Broadcom card reader. You can download the driver from Gateway support site

Your chipset is a mystery. You have a Gateway NV55S? Because altho Gateway site for your mode shows Intel drivers, you don't have any Intel chips! You have an AMD chipset (not Intel).

Here's the System Device section of your DxDiag report. Look at the Device IDs. They start PCI\VEN_xxxx where xxxx is the four character vendor ID. AMD vendor ID=1022 and Broadcom=104E
> AMD device ID strings start PCI\VEN_1022
You have a few Broadcom chips too (their Device IDs start PCI\VEN_14E4)

In Device Manager, under System Devices look for a couple of the AMD chips. Rt click Properties->Driver tab. Is driver provider AMD? What's the driver date and version?

The only driver that I see that has amd in its name is the amd smbus and the driver version is 6.2.9200.16384 but the driver provider is Microsoft. and I got the broadcom card reader driver keeps saying something is interrupting it's wizard from installing the driver. if want, I have team viewer if you want to utilize that so you can better explore the issue......

1) Best I can tell, after some searching online, most of those AMD chips on your motherboard run with the generic drivers from M$

Re; the graphics chips: AMD support site has an "autocheck" feature so you can check to assure the latest graphics driver

2) As to the Broadcom Reader issue,
> Are you sure you downloaded the version for your 64bit OS?
> Also try saving the file, right click as Run as Admin

/* EDIT */
So, other then the card reader, are your other devices working OK?

Yeah the other devices work fine, the card reader does too, but in the devise manager, the card reader comes up as a base system device because of the missing drivers and I'm not sure what to do cuz I've tries everything, I saved the setup files and ran as admin but it still comes up with an error that says that the system does not meet minimal requirements.

I just looked at the driver download from Gateway. Talk about "non-obvious"... Have you tried running the Setall.bat file? Try that one. It invokes setup.exe with some parameters (that maybe will make a difference?) Let's see what happens

Base System Device - you must install the CardReader_Broadcom first before any other driver installs.

That fixed it for me
