Battlefield2 CD-Key invalid

Hi guys.

i'm in a bit of a fix.. I had a friend of mine from online who had battlefield 2 and got fed up playing it. i really loved the game so he gave up his copy to me. now, i was so excited about the game i couldn't wait and downloaded it before he actually gave me the dvds. as for the cd key he had sent me by email. this is a legit key and it worked beautifully. now i've bought a new pc and i've lost the email with the key and his contact detials since then and since the game was working he never sent me the dvd.. i have the info from registry with the cd key but one of the patches encrypted it and am stumped now on what to do cos i got nothing to prove i now own this copy. all i have is an encrypted cd key! i've tried:

1> installing Battlefield2 on the new pc(intitially with a fake cd key) then patching to the same patch the old pc had (v1.22)
2> pasting the encrypted code form the registry of the old pc into the new pc.

i'm quite sure ea wont be able to help me here since i got no proof that i own the game. i still get invalid cd key when joining servers. any help would be appreciated.

PS i've seen mentioned in other forums to do a system restore but that's impossible since it's been ages ago that i had patched the game onthe old pc.

hey .. well it's ok i found the email thank god! found the cd key now & works fine.. turns out this time the encrypted key in the registry was different than the other pc.. same key though.. strange. Anyhow keygen would only be good to help install the game.. playing is another thing since the cd key is checked before you join a server.

I should also add the 1.3 patch also corrupted the cd-key on two of my LAN boxes. They worked great prior, but rolling the 1.3 patch on to them resulted in the "CD key invalid" upon logging in. These PC's had been incrementally patched since the original release so it's likely an uncaught 1.0->1.1->1.2->1.3 full bug or something.

I had to completely uninstall/re-install both PC's (then all the expansions, then re-apply the long 1.3 patch). Good news is, it was worth it as both PC's now go from login to in-game menu's in like 5-10 seconds versus the 1+ minute they used to take prior. NO idea why though hehe.

try using Limewire to get a cd gen. for it, it always works for me :D

Techspot does not condone piracy. Buy the game.

Because as a fellow BF2 player we know DICE likes to screw with us. :)

Yeah that's a thing- i never remember it taking THIS long to log in.. now i have to wait for ages for it to log in. tsup witdat?! i have installed battlefield2 and patched it with 1.3 strait away.. do you think re installing and patching with incrimental patches will solve the problem?

Doubtful.. I think it's just a roll of the DICE (pun intended..).

I think somewhere in their patchers it has some sort of code like:
diceroll = random(50);
if (diceroll == 50) {
// We have a winner!
SetBFHQLoginServer( EAs286LoginServer);
} else {
SetBFHQLoginServer( EAs486LoginServer);
}
